Jaqweenie was picked up as a stray in South Carolina. We believe he lived on the streets the first year of his life. He was a skinny, scared boy when we adopted him. He knew no commands & didn't realize it wasn't cool to go potty inside. Jaqweenie has come a long way since then! You've probably noticed Jaqweenie's unique mouth. On top of his extreme overbite, his lower jaw is crooked which led to one of his lower canines poking a hole in the roof of his mouth. Luckily I brought him to a dentist who took an MRI that determined that tooth was wearing away the bone and would eventually puncture his sinuses. We got the offending tooth removed. Now, his tongue tends to hang out that side of his mouth. Let's talk about inbreeding! When we got Jaqweenie's Embark DNA test I was suprised to learn that he has a COI of 35%. You know who else is that inbred? The most inbred character on Game Of Thrones Daenerys. Siblings mating or a parent child match gives you a COI of 25% so Jaqweenie comes from generations of inbreeding! This is a great time to mention how important it is to spay/neuter your pets. ;)
Orson was also found as a stray, but because he was mostly potty trained we think someone took care of him a some point. The rescue that sprung Orson from the kennel disbanded, and he was sent to live with a lady in SC who was supposed to find him a home. Eventually the rescue realized she wasn't searching for a home, and he was sent to Heart (Heaven and Earth Animal Rescue Team) in Raleigh. That's were we found sweet Orson! He was described as a delinquent so obviously I had to have him. Orson has nerve damage on his front left foot. This makes him walk funny, but the vet doesn't believe it will progress. Sometimes he walks with three legs and sometimes he uses all four. Orson is a wild muppet with a heart of gold.
Jaqweenie & Orson are foster brothers to a rotating cast of characters. We work with Hope Animal Rescue. They take wonderful care of their dogs, and I highly recommend adopting from them, volunteering, fostering, or donating. All of their dogs are examined by a vet, which gives me peace of mind. They are located in Durham, NC but have foster homes all over the Triangle.
